What to Expect
Now in its 55th year, the Georgia Apple Festival is one of North Georgia's most beloved fall events. The festival spans two full weekends in October, filling the streets of Ellijay and East Ellijay with handmade crafts, demonstration booths, local food vendors, live entertainment, and the unmistakable energy of mountain fall.
More than 250 vendors bring everything from handcrafted goods and fine art to fair food, apple-themed treats, and regional specialties. It's the kind of event that draws people back year after year — and for Walnut Mountain residents, it's practically in the backyard.
Plan Ahead
Festival weekends are among the busiest in Gilmer County. Expect significant traffic along Hwy 52 and around downtown Ellijay and East Ellijay. Arrive early, carpool when possible, and check official festival communications for parking guidance and maps.
Make a Weekend of It
Combine the festival with an orchard drive along Hwy 52 East, a visit to a local winery or cidery, and dinner in downtown Ellijay. Festival weekends are the peak of Gilmer County's fall calendar.
